Orchid Pictures Query - By Book
Enter values in the fields below to control the type
of information returned. An entry
of "Miniature" will return entries from any book with
"Miniature" in the name (e.g. Miniature Orchids,
Miniature Orchids & How To Grow Them, etc.).
Multiple words entered must be adjacent in the book name (e.g.
"Miniature Orchids" or "Miniature" or
"Orchids & How" will all return Miniature Orchids &
How To Grow Them,
but "Miniature Grow" will not find that book). Since
the book field contains the book title, the author name and the
publication year, you could search on the year or the author.
Remember that using a word such as "Orchid" will return
a huge number of references for a long list of books. Using
"Ross Macdonald" will return references for his books
but using "Macdonald" will return references from
books written by Ross Macdonald and any other author with that last
name.
- The list of 5,737 picture sources may be found in the
Sources List.
- The list of 419 picture sources for the additional 28,992 references
added with the last update may be found in the
New Sources List.
- The list of picture sources to be added with the next planned update
may be found in the Next Planned Update Sources List
which will have document names added as they are completed or planned to be
included in the next update.
- The list of 1,047 picture sources that were searched but in which no pictures were found
may be found in the Empty Sources List.
- The current number of picture references in the database = 291,525.
There are technical limits to the number of rows this simple application can return at one time.
If that limit is exceeded the results will not be displayed properly in the table format and will
just dump to your screen.
For example, at the time of this writing:
The search string orchids should return 88,939 rows.
The search string AOS should return 72,323 rows.
Both of the above exceed the allowed buffer size and will simply dump some of the data to your screen.
If you are actually looking for data in the AOS Orchids magazines use AOS Orchids
and you will get the 16,567 rows properly formatted.
Search strings are NOT case sensitive.
Use a search string that is general enough to find what you are looking for
but not so general as to exceed the results size limit.
